Wine & Movie Night

Movie night doesn't get any better then this: A bottle of Chateau Montelena and the movie Bottle Shock! Sharing a Saturday evening with great friends and the best Chardonnay I have ever tasted. This movie was great staring Alan Rickman (Professor Snape from Harry Potter fame), Dennis Farina and Feddy Rodriguez. Based on the book " Judgement of Paris California vs. France" by George M. Taber. This is an inspiring true story of the 1976  tasting in Paris where California wines beat the French wines in competition for the first time in history.

We were motivated by the story of a then struggling small Napa Valley winery, Chateau Montelena and their dedication  and tenacity which led to not only their success, but to putting California on the world wine map.

No matter what type of wine you like, you will love Chateau Montelena. Cheers!

Last Show....

For most of my adult life, Oprah Winfrey has made me smile, cry, grow, and has inspired me. Today her talk show comes to an end after 25 years of priceless moments and being the ultimate girlfriend. To me she is a living legend, someone who got touch the lives of people all over the world. The television talk show circuit definitely won't be the same. But I know she will find new avenues to continue to be a positive influence in our lives.

Trend Report: White Lace Dresses

When I started thinking about this trend it took me back to when Madonna was rolling around a stage floor singing "like a virgin". But then, I quickly thought of the beautiful Kate Middleton on her wedding day.

I'm in love with this trend! I really love the white lace dresses with streamlined silhouettes and above the knee hemlines, and styling them with stylish shoes, making the look modern. Here are some examples:

Your Pet's Eye View

Check this out.....the world’s first digital pet cam, the EYENIMAL allows you to see what your pet sees. A great way to keep tabs on them, this simple device — weighing about 1.2 oz — attaches to your dog’s collar and gives you a dog’s eye view of the world.
With 2.5 hours worth of battery life and 8GB of built-in Flash memory, you can easily transfer the video to your PC or Mac with a USB cable. It even has a built-in microphone so you can capture the entire experience right from the horse, er, dog’s mouth…

Loving this, check it out in action on YouTube

Gardening.....

Ok, I have embarked on a new adventure that I have been so badly wanting to do, gardening....
I have never been much of a green thumb, but I have a huge desire to grow my own herbs and veggies. Here in Arizona it can be tough  with our brutal summers. I came across this book, The Apartment Gardening.

It's an incredibly handy manual full of information on how to grow plants in small spaces. This book seems to be a perfect start to possibly having squash growing on the patio, flowers in my window box and lettuce growing in recycled containers. This will be interesting and will keep you posted. Keep your fingers crossed!

The Feed Founation

Celebrating Mother's Day weekend, my daughter and I went shopping to our favorite boutiques around town. One of purchases was this cute bracelet from FEED Projects. FEED Project's mission is to create good products that help FEED the world. They do this through the sale of FEED bags, t-shirts, and other accessories by building a set donation into the cost of each product.
The FEED Bracelet that we bought is made out of corn-based plastic with a metal charm with the FEED logo on the one side and the number 5 on the other. The number 5 signifies the 5 school meals our bracelet will provide, donated to the United Nations World Food School Feeding Program. I love that as little at $15.00, we feed five children! Feels good to make purchases that do something good for those who are less fortunate.

And to show you how stylish you can be with this......
Check out this clutch by designer Judith Leiber, that you can purchases at Bergdorf Goodman as well as the FEED website.

Here are links to both.

Happy Mother's Day

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
 Washington Irving (1783-1859)

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!
